I am a 12-year-old dancer from Stars Dance Company in Miami, Florida. I began dancing at the age of 9. My older sister, Emily, danced competitively my whole life, and one day at one of her competitions, I realized that I was able to do many of the things the dancers on stage were doing. I asked my mom to let me try out a dance class, and I loved it ever since. I am part of the homeschool program at Stars, and I train Monday - Thursday from 10:30 am - 9:30 pm. I take all styles of dance at Stars; my favourite two styles are contemporary and ballet.

Contemporary allows me to use many different movements and emotions and freely express myself on stage. With contemporary, you are free to move in whatever way the music makes you feel.

One of the things I love most about my coaches, Victor Smalley and Angel Armas, is that they focus a lot on training us to be artists and to really feel the music. The focus at Stars is not ongoing to multiple competitions or being in 8 or 10 group dances, the main focus is on individual growth, and that has been really helpful to me.
