Karina Sayler: I never really thought of myself as a model.

I never really thought of myself as a model. I had always been more on the shy side and struggled to talk to people. My mom started taking pictures of me when I was very young to help me express myself. At the age of 3 ½, a local magazine contest spotted me at the mall and asked my parents to enter me. Even though the contest was for age 5 and up I was chosen as a finalist. I was offered modelling contracts, but my parents decided to wait until I was old enough to make the decision. At age 11, I entered the Face of Foothills magazine contest. During the interview process, I was scouted by Jessica Spencer at Ford/RBA. Since signing with Ford, my life has completely changed. Within a few months, I was also signed by Sugar Kids in Barcelona and La Models in California. I have met with several of the top modelling agencies in LA and NY. Wilhemina, Ford, IMG, and Elite.

It is difficult to choose a favourite photoshoot because each one has been a different experience. I discovered my passion is being in front of the camera working with creative photographers to capture an amazing photo. My 1st job was wearing a fairy dress and sitting on a swing made of beautiful flowers. It was a lot of fun and the pictures were used on the cover of BCK magazine. Since that 1st shoot, I have been featured in 11 magazines and just had my 1st article published.

My favourite runway experience was Phoenix Fashion Week. I was fortunate to wear a beautiful dress by Svetik Haute Couture representing the Phoenix bird. It was an amazing experience to walk in an international event and be interviewed on the red carpet. Another favourite was the Debbie Gaby celebrity runway event. I was the only kid invited and got to walk with many famous people while raising money for several different charities. It was exciting to walk with supermodel Kim Alexis and Bay watch beauty Geena Nolin. Everybody was so kind.

My 1st passion is singing. I sang my 1st solo at age seven at my church. Since then I have travelled to different churches to help lead worship. I hope to someday be a professional worship singer. Presently, I am performing with the Upscale singers, a professional group mostly of adults and a few kids. I am training at the LA Acting Academy to prepare me for the acting industry. I just completed my 1st anti-bullying campaign music video. I am studying French, enjoy art and love spending my summers in Europe.

My best advice is to always be yourself, never give up, surround yourself with good people, be grateful for every opportunity and trust God.
